Southwest Wisconsin Samaritan hops to the rescue, saving 3 "pet" bunnies from park peril after post-holiday Easter abandonment

We're all familiar with the Easter bunny, right? Well, for some families, he's a mythical figure that comes on Easter morning, before we all wake up, and fills our Easter baskets with candy, and then plants a bunch of Easter eggs around the house for us to find in the morning. For other families, he's a tiny, baby bunny that mommies and daddies give to their kids on Easter because everybody loves a cute bunny… until they find out how much work it is to actually keep a bunny as a pet.

The unfortunate reality of this situation is that a lot of these rabbits get dumped quickly after the post-holiday bunny buzz. People release them into the wild, thinking that they can easily survive in the wild, and the truth is that they can't. But luckily, there are heroic people who hop to the rescue to help these bunnies, like this Southwest Wisconsin man below. He saved not one, not two, but three "pet" bunnies that were abandoned in a local park. Scroll down to read his full story!

    Edit: got some good leads from the wonderful folks here! I'll be looking into the Hoppy House Rabbit Rescue and the Rabbit.org list of rescue groups in the region. If things aren't coming together, maybe I can find a discount spay clinic in the meantime.

    I scooped up three buns from a local park. The black one is a little timid but accepted pets today, the other two are very outgoing. They're a little scruffy, and the black one has some missing fur, but otherwise they seem to be healthy. Obviously in need of a proper checkup, vaccinations, and spay/neuter ASAP.

    I have Mr Randy Pants the H dog separate, he's acting pretty hormonal. I fortified the barrier and put up a sheet as a jump guard.

    I was separating the other two as well, but they seemed upset about it so I'm leaving them together. They don't chase or hp, and if anyone can get pregnant it's probably already happened.
